Godfrey Takes Victory at Inaugural IKRL Race Series
|

Truman Godfrey (c) scored the win in the opening round of the IKRL series at Speedway Karting in Phoenix, AZ, seen here flanked by Bryan Van de Bogart and Eric Dickenson |
The Indoor Kart Racing League (IKRL) opened up its 2008 season with the first of
a series of nationally-run races at Speedway Indoor Raceway in Phoenix, AZ on
February 24. This was the first of several IKRL Series that will be developed
throughout the U.S. to highlight the talent in the indoor karting ranks.
Each Series that runs will offer as a season-ending first prize a free entry
into the U.S. Indoor Karting Championship (USIKC), on a date that has not yet
been finalized. The second place driver will earn a new Finish Line Race Gear
Snell 2005 helmet, while third in the points in the 10-race series will receive
a new race suit.
The winner of the first place trophy and 15 points to begin his chase for the
season title was Truman Godfrey. Second in the event was 2004 AZIKC Champion
Bryan Van de Bogart while Eric Dickenson completed the podium. Honorable mention
went to rookie Jason Burnstein for his fourth place finish. This was Jason’s
first race using the 200 pound driver minimum that is required under IKRL rules,
which required him to add 95 pounds to his kart. It was certainly a great start
to his rookie season.
The second race in the Speedway Series will be run on Sunday, March 16 at
Speedway Indoor Karting in Phoenix. For information on entering that race,
